Position Summary
The Maintenance Operations Supervisor reports to the General Manager of Maintenance. The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating aircraft maintenance activities at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), including determining aircraft placement and identifying when servicing at remote locations is required. This role serves as a central point of coordination between JFK Local Maintenance, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, and Station Operations, and Dispatch, ensuring clear communication, alignment of priorities, and efficient execution of maintenance operations.
Through active collaboration with these departments, the Maintenance Operations Supervisor directs workload distribution, aircraft placement and parking, Minimum Equipment List (MEL) application, and the determination of in-service and out-of-service aircraft. The role oversees the coordination and communication of maintenance issues with appropriate Technical Operations resources, including Maintenance Control Center (MCC) and local Line Maintenance leadership, for aircraft both on and off the gate. This ensures operational readiness while maintaining compliance with JetBlue policies, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, and safety standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of leadership and escalation between Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, Local Maintenance, Station Operations, System Operations Center (SOC), and Dispatch, ensuring alignment of priorities and timely decision making.
- Oversee and direct the response to maintenance issues both on and off the gate, ensuring clear communication with Dispatch, including oversight and authorization of MEL applications, as appropriate.
- Lead coordination with Technical Operations teams, providing guidance and direction to stakeholders on Airport Operations requests, including deferred tasks and maintenance rescheduling, to protect operational integrity.
- Make final determinations on aircraft placement for maintenance in collaboration with Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, Local Maintenance and Station Operations.
- Supervise line station maintenance activity, ensuring aircraft requiring maintenance are properly positioned, supported and managed in alignment with operational priorities.
- Provide strategic, real-time updates to Airport Operations leadership, Line Maintenance leadership, and MCC regarding maintenance activity, aircraft availability, and operational impact.
- Direct and ensure timely communication regarding aircraft removal from and return to service across Maintenance Control, Maintenance Planning, Station Operations, SOC, and Dispatch.
- Oversee the accuracy and completion of delays, cancellations, and interruption reporting, including proper delay coding, and ensure clear communication of events to Line Maintenance and Station Operations leadership.
- Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
- Five (5) years of aircraft maintenance experience
- Five (5) years of experience in heavy transport aircraft
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
- Must be able to work flexible hours during the day and night operation
- Willing to work overtime when operational requirement is needed
- Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management
- Two (2) years of Maintenance Control or Line Maintenance Supervision Experience (Heavy Transport)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and in the use of digital manuals
- Ability to stay focused and work under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic
- Previous leadership experience

Compensation
- The base pay range for this position is $119,700 per year.
