Position Summary:

The Manager Quality Control reports to the Director of Quality / Chief Inspector and has overall responsibility for the daily management of the Quality Control Department to ensure inspection and maintenance activities are in compliance with established policies, procedures, specifications, and regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage, control and update the following JetBlue Quality Programs:
    • Required Inspection Items (RII) Program
    • Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Program
    • Receiving Inspection Program
    • Heavy Maintenance (HMV) Quality Oversight Program
    • Borescope Training and Qualification Program.
    • Signature Stamp Control Program.
  • Provides oversight to the duties of direct reports to ensure aircraft inspections are in accordance with approved policies, procedures, specifications, and regulations.
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing, and building manpower requirements
  • Takes a role in the development and training of crewmembers to support engagement, growth, and achievement of goals.
  • Assists the Director of Quality / Chief Inspector in formulating the capital/operating budget for the business unit.
  • Mitigates safety risks in the operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
  • Five (5) years airline maintenance experience with Three (3) years Quality Control Inspection experience
  • Three (3) years aviation leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of Part 121 FAR’s
  • Experience maintaining a budget
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal, written, as well as strong analytical and time management skills
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (30%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in aviation related field
  • Experience leading a large and multi department TechOps work group
  • Ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, in a demanding and fast-paced operation
  • Engine Borescope experience
  • Knowledge of NDT policies, procedures, specifications, and regulations with certification in the disciplines of Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, and/or Ultransonic.
  • Accountable and results driven

  • Flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Physical Effort:

Compensation: 

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
