Position Title: Manager Duty, International

 

 

Position Summary

The Manager Duty, International (International MOD) is responsible for leading the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of international airport operations during assigned shifts. The International MOD serves as the senior on-site operational leader for international arrivals and departures, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational performance, and consistent customer experience.

 

This role acts as the primary on-shift point of contact for Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), airport authorities, vendors, and internal partners supporting international operations, and provides real-time leadership to supervisors and crewmembers assigned to international functions.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior on-site operational leader for all international operations during assigned shifts.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of international arrivals and departures, including Federal Inspection Site (FIS), baggage, gate, and customer processing activities.
  • Monitor and manage international flight operations and irregular operations, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all CBP, TSA, airport authority, and Company requirements.
  • Monitor TSA inline baggage screening and CBP processing to support timely customer and baggage flow.
  • Leadership visibility to ensure meeting performance metrics.
  • Act as the on-shift liaison with CBP, TSA, airport authorities, and international operations vendors.
  • Maintain effective working relationships to facilitate smooth operational execution.
  • Participate in on-shift airport coordination meetings and international operations briefings.
  • Communicate operational status, constraints, and risks to station and regional leadership.
  • Provide on-shift leadership, coaching, and direction to supervisors, crewmembers, and vendors supporting international operations.
  • Ensure crewmembers assigned to international functions are prepared, informed, and aligned to procedures.
  • Monitor vendor performance during shifts and report service gaps or compliance concerns.
  • Resolve crewmember and customer issues with professionalism and urgency.
  • Provide shift summaries, incident reports, and operational feedback related to international operations.
  • Identify recurring risks, process gaps, and improvement opportunities and escalate to leadership.
  • Participate in ad hoc reviews, audits, and procedural updates related to international operations.
  • Be accountable for safety and security performance during assigned shifts.
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Diploma GED.
  • Five (5) years of leadership, operations, or aviation experience.
  • Three (3) years of prior Part 121 airline experience.
  • Experience supporting international operations, FIS, or working with CBP and TSA.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Company-required systems.
  • Ability to use handheld radios and make terminal announcements.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (up to 10%).
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License meeting Company insurance standards.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge and, where applicable, U.S. Customs clearance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Must be in good standing for attendance and safety.

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Prior Manager on Duty or airport shift-leadership experience.
  • International hub or high-volume FIS operational experience.

 

Crewmember Expectations

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice.
  • Work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance.
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System.

  • Identify safety and security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)).
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls.
  • Responsible for ensuring crewmembers have requisite training, resources and support to achieve safety objectives.
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities.
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Physical Effort

  • Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to fifty (50) pounds frequently and/or seventy to one hundred (70-100) pounds occasionally with the assistance of other people or tools and be in a position where bending, crouching, kneeling, etc. is needed.

 

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is between $81,000 and $136,200 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
