Position Title: Supervisor Safety (FLL)

 

Position Summary

The Supervisor Safety is responsible for the coordination and oversight of JetBlue Safety Management System, and other ground safety programs specific to JetBlue Airports.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting a culture of Safety that mitigates the risk of injuries and damage
  • Promote visible and proactive leadership and encourage Crewmember involvement in related activities and programs
  • Supervise ground safety monitoring programs such as Ramp LOSA and BlueCity Self-Assessments to promote quality observations and strategic action plans
  • Focus on safety performance by correcting at-risk behaviors and procedural drifts; by positively reinforcing good behaviors; by educating Crewmembers on safety awareness and distraction avoidance
  • Develop hazard identification controls or corrective actions based on safety inspections or Crewmember concerns
  • Support compliance with all regulations governing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other state regulations pertaining to health and safety.
  • Lead investigative efforts of safety events (fact finding, assessment, root cause and corrective actions)
  • Coordinate BHSC Committees
  • Facilitate meetings among departments to resolve cross-departmental safety concerns
  • Liaise with Business partners and Airport Authority as it relates to safety
  • Manage day to day safety data to identify and correct negative trends
  • Oversee Safety leads Program where applicable
  • Serve as the primary resource for Health and Safety topics
  • Support station safety and compliance audits
  • Accountable to senior management for ensuring the safety and security of ground handling operations
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are conducted in accordance with applicable federal regulations and standards
  • Some travel required in an effort to support Airports Safety Team (Conducting unannounced audits, supporting Business partner transitions, team meetings).
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
  • Three (3) years of airline experience
  • One (1) year of supervision or lead experience
  • Safety driven and have a proven record of a safe and reliable work history
  • Possesses strong written and verbal skills.  Communicates effectively with all JetBlue Crewmembers and Business Partners
  • Conducts themselves in a respectful manner
  • Self-starter, action oriented and capable of managing complex tasks simultaneously
  • Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, goal achievement
  • Depending upon location, may need to possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License from the state of your primary residence
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Depending on location, may need to acquire and maintain a United States Customs Clearance
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Possesses strong proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc. Bilingual skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities, with ability to lead, train and motivate
  • Ability to think creatively

 

Crewmember Expectations

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Responsible for ensuring crewmembers have requisite training, resources and support to achieve safety objectives
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position
