Position Summary

The Head of Legal, Paisly will provide expert, commercially focused legal counsel and support across all commercial and transactional contracts, with a strong emphasis on ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risk and enabling the seamless execution of business objectives within the aviation and travel sectors. This role plays a vital part in safeguarding the company’s interests while supporting Paisly’s unique growth trajectory, innovative offerings and operational priorities in the evolving non-air travel space.

 

The ideal candidate is flexible and adaptable, capable of pivoting as needed to provide timely, practical legal guidance aligned with the company’s dynamic business environment and strategic goals.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Four primary areas of responsibility:
  • Providing legal advice and guidance on privacy and data protection regulation and associated commercial issues.
  • Manage a high volume of commercial and transactional agreements from drafting to execution.
  • Providing legal guidance and risk assessment to the Marketing team on promotions, terms and conditions and general best practice.
  • General company secretarial duties for Paisly, including maintenance of licenses in all countries, states and territories where Paisly does business.
  • Provide legal guidance and risk assessment to Paisly business units involved in contracting.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with external parties.
  • Ensure all contractual activities comply with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Develop and maintain legal resources, templates and guidelines related to contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide practical legal solutions
  • Ability to draft, review, and finalize a wide range of complex commercial and transactional contracts critical to online travel agency operations. This includes, service agreements, scopes of work, procurement contracts, licensing agreements and partnership agreements with precision, clarity and adherence to legal best practices and company policies.
  • Ensure contracts accurately reflect agreed-upon business terms and protect the company's legal and financial interests.
  • Provide pragmatic, actionable and solution-oriented legal advice on contractual matters.
  • Lead or actively collaborate with internal stakeholders in negotiations with third parties and in support of legal needs of the business.
  • Foster strong relationships built on responsiveness, commercial understanding and clear communication which includes external partnerships.
  • Member of Paisly Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Reports to President, Paisly.
  • Dotted reporting line to JetBlue’s Associate General Counsel.
  • Other complex projects and duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in New York or Florida. If not admitted in Florida, will need to be registered with the Florida Bar as Authorized House Counsel.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant legal practice experience, ideally a combination of private practice and in-house, preferably with a focus on commercial and transactional contracts.
  • In-office presence in Dania Beach, FL three (3) days a week.
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, research, and investigative skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Some form of International Association of Privacy Professions certification or equivalent strongly preferred.

 

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond at short notice.
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance.
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.
  • The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.
