Located at the Fort Lauderdale Inspiration Center (FLIC) in South Florida, the budding epi-center of the travel and hospitality industry, JetBlue Travel Products works hard to integrate personalization and technology into the airline and the broader travel journey for all JetBlue customers.


The JetBlue Travel Products (JTP) Engineer, Data reports directly to the Senior Manager of Data Engineering and is responsible for developing and supporting the data management and analytics platforms, including data infrastructure, in order to support the evolution of travel products. The Engineer, Data is focused on the design and development of data ingestion, processing and storage pipelines, as well as the transformation of raw data into business insights that enable JetBlue Travel Products to become a digital disruptor. This role leans heavily on engineering, but also collaborates heavily with JTP’s matrix partners in JetBlue’s IT and external business partners.

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop and manage data management products from conception to retirement.
  • Collaborate with the data engineering team to deliver with consistency, high quality and predictability.
  • Create and promote a work environment focused on engineering excellence to attract, develop and encourage a culture of technical innovation.
  • Partner with product management and marketing teams and help develop the product vision and roadmap.
  • Create the JTP data infrastructure and analytics environments, understand the data and provide support for key business decisions.
  • Participate in the DevOps practice as it pertains to data engineering.
  • Help establish frameworks, design and integration patterns as well as guide the software development performed by business partners.
  • Help manage a collection of external technology products used to deliver business products.
  • Other complex projects and duties as assigned.  


Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience with demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through four (4) previous years of combined experience and education. 
  • Three (3) years’ experience in an engineering role.
  • Good understanding of software engineering environments and standards.
  • Good understanding of version control, review and development cycles. 
  • Deep understanding of internet technologies, protocols and methodologies for delivering web-based products.
  • Experience managing service level agreements (SLA’s). 
  • Experience interacting daily with people at different levels within the organization, including developing and maintaining ongoing relationships.
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsoring.


Preferred Experience and Qualifications 

  • Experience maintaining a public profile and building relationships throughout the organization.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in technology roles.
  • Experience in writing software in one or more languages such as Java, Python, Shell, Go and/or JavaScript.
  • Experience architecting, developing software, or internet scale production-grade Big Data solutions in virtualized environments such as Amazon Web Services, Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience using Big Data Ingestion products such as BigQuery, DataFlow, Apache Beam, Pub/Sub.


Crewmember Expectations 

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.  
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice. 
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance. 
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.
