Field Generalist (BOS)
Position Summary
The Field Generalist functions as the first-line human resources contact in support of station and support center leadership and Crewmembers and their human resources needs. The Generalist is responsible for handling Crew Relations issues, providing onsite training and education for human resources initiatives and offering outstanding customer service to the operation or support center. The Generalist partners with Corporate Human Resources (HR) Leaders in the design, development and implementation of human resources initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Act as a consultant to station and support center leadership on all employee relations issues and HR-related policy and procedure interpretation
- Provide ongoing support to leadership with employee relations, counseling, employee development and corrective action issues; provide guidance to managers in preparing performance improvement plans, disciplinary action and separations
- Establish relationships with both Crewleaders and Crewmembers in the operation, fostering business partnerships to increase awareness of People initiatives in the organization
- Support managers in key initiatives such as the performance management process, employee surveys, succession planning and employee involvement initiatives; monitor consistency and quality of initiatives and assists with any questions
- Assist the corporate People department in the design and implementation of personnel policies and procedures and effectively communicate and employ these policies and procedures at the station or center; communication may include developing and facilitating training sessions, which may include, but not be limited to, Orientation support, Just Culture and Event Investigations, New Leader Assimilations and Respectful Workplace
- Serve as a first line of contact for any crew relations-related inquiries, assist the Crewmember by contacting the appropriate department if necessary (i.e. Benefits, Compensation, Talent Recruiting)
- Participate in developing departmental goals, objectives and systems; recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
- Frequently communicate to all other Generalists to provide consistency in HR practices across all workgroups
- Analyze various HR metrics and develop reports to present findings to both People and Station leadership
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Conflict Resolution, Human Resources, Labor Relations or Organizational Psychology OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
- Two (2) years of analytical or investigative experience
- Demonstrated influence skills
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
- Effective written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy
- Attention to detail in composing and creating reports and metric data
- Strong research, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to be flexible, multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Strong team player with the ability to take initiative and work well independently
- Available for overnight travel (up to 40%)
- Must be in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Three (3) years’ experience in Human Resources OR Three (3) years of leadership experience
- Employee Relations experience
- PHR/SPHR certification
Crewmember Expectations:
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
- Able to maintain a professional appearance
- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
