Position Title: Senior Analyst Technology and Innovation Communications


Position Summary

The Senior Analyst Technology and Innovation Communications is responsible for the development and implementation of internal communications activities both within the IT department and from IT to the company at large. They will work on translating complex terminology into interesting and relatable communications, throwing aside technical jargon or “corporate speak” to build a real connection with our crewmembers beyond IT. They’ll have additional opportunities across an assortment of communication mediums and will work with the rest of the communications team to help develop stories for potential sharing across internal and external channels to keep crewmembers informed and strengthen JetBlue’s reputation as an innovator.


The Senior Analyst will work directly with departmental stakeholders on a variety of topics, and will need an inquisitive mind to not only quickly develop a working understanding of the latest news and technology developments, but also understand how it affects crewmembers in diverse roles across the company. Resulting communications will align with JetBlue’s brand voice and strategy so crewmembers have timely communications waiting for them when they need it most.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop a keen understanding of the JetBlue voice and apply it throughout communications
  • Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy to support our Chief Digital & Technology Officer and other key IT stakeholders
  • Write and edit department newsletters and coordinate the distribution to crewmembers  
  • Advise on departmental announcements and notices to ensure consistent presentation and brand standards
  • Liaise with frontline workgroup communicators to ensure timely communication of enterprise-wide technology initiatives or issues impacting our operation
  • Maintain the day-to-day content and upkeep of IT-related information on HelloJetBlue (intranet), On The Fly (mobile app), and Daily News e-newsletter
  • Collaborate with department stakeholders to gather information on their respective initiatives then “translate” technical departmental speak in communications for the general crewmember population
  • Offer general communication support for Corporate Communications or IT team initiatives
  • Identify and execute integrated storytelling and content development opportunities for internal and external audiences
  • Partner with our Media Team to facilitate story placements, interviews and other external communications that spotlight JetBlue’s innovative culture
  • Identify, vet and support external appearances by IT leadership on technology and innovation
  • Assist in crisis communication, after-hours media relations, and other communications responsibilities as assigned by the Corporate Communications leadership team
  • Be fearless in asking for more details when partnering with and interviewing crewmembers
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Three (3) years demonstrated experience in communications, journalism and/or public relations
  • Must possess strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities to be able to produce multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and manage self towards goals, while being a genuine team player
  • Basic Photoshop and HTML skills
  • Attention to detail while providing exceptional customer service with little supervision
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Currently in possession of a valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
  • Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located


Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of professional corporate communications or agency experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism


Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR)
