Senior Accountant
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Manager, Property Accounting. Responsibilities include support for all aspects of fuel and fuel hedge accounting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Recording of monthly journal entries related to fuel expense and hedging
- Reconciliation of fuel related balance sheet accounts
- Interface with independent auditors and business partners
- Network with other departments to obtain needed information and educate other departments on financial relevance of their transactions
- Responsible for weekly fuel accounting and audits, variance analysis of balance sheet accounts and related income statement accounts
- Assists in the preparation of related footnote and management discussion and analysis (MD&A) disclosures for quarterly and annual U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings
- Research items of technical nature to determine proper accounting treatment and presentation
- Ensures internal controls are effectively maintained for assigned tasks
- Supervision of staff may be required at times
- Assist with ad hoc accounting projects as needed with minimal supervision
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
- Three (3) years of accounting experience
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible
- SAP experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail

- Able to maintain a professional appearance

Compensation:
- The base pay range for this position is between $64,000.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
