Title: Supervisor Traffic Control

Position Summary
The Traffic Control Supervisor oversees and monitors the operational security in order to ensure the smooth flow of passenger and vehicular traffic at T5, LaGuardia and Newark Airport. In addition to managing daily traffic flow, the Supervisor plans the overall strategy for effective T5 traffic management, oversight and management of business partners (BP) responsible for traffic management, and development of training curriculum and ensuring training for Business Partners responsible for traffic management. This position will report to the Manager Security (JFK) with a dotted line to the Director Domestic Operations and Investigations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Organize and schedule traffic control operations (in relation to vehicular traffic volume and flight schedule) at the JetBlue T5, LaGuardia and Newark Airport.
- Work with the JetBlue Manager of Security at JFK along with contracted private traffic control/guard services, to ensure that specific posts are defined, have detailed post orders, and they are communicated to the traffic control representatives in advance and are monitored throughout shifts to ensure coordination and execution
- Develop appropriate traffic management metrics for BP and measure performance success with monthly traffic management scorecard/dashboard, and work with JFK Manager to ensure Business Partner is fulfilling all traffic-related duties and Service Level Agreements under contract
- Develop strategic short, mid, and long-term T5 traffic management plans for both current operations and anticipated growth and construction in the years ahead
- Consistently communicate with and provide feedback to the traffic control representatives via regular briefings as well as in-service training where needed
- Work with the Manager Security JFK to design and develop contingency plans for emergencies as well as protocols for special events where needed
- Identify and provide appropriate traffic management training opportunities for the Business Partner traffic management team
- Work closely with Airports Experience and Commercial Real Estate teams in designing and implementing various traffic alleviation efforts
- Liaise with Port Authority Police Department and NYC TLC Enforcement regularly ensuring awareness of issues, such as illegal taxi activity, and to proactively address issue mitigating any negative impact to JetBlue Customers
- Ensure adherence to all Safety and Security regulations
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Take a significant role in the development of Crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development Diploma (GED)
- Three (3) years’ of previous experience in law enforcement or public safety with specific career experience in traffic control/management
- One (1) year of previous experience in a leadership role
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with JetBlue operational components
- Available to overnight travel (25%)
- Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
- Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Four (4) years leadership experience in traffic control management

- When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

- Be able to work in outdoor environment year round for extended periods of time
